Concert at Henne Church: The Nordic Cello Duo

The concert takes the form of a musical narrative about how Maria Jensen, a local woman from Dyreby, made a vital difference to a Finnish family in the 1940s through her contributions to the Finland Relief effort.

During cellist Heikki Takkula’s childhood, his mother often told him how Maria Jensen’s letters and aid parcels, containing items such as butter, salami and real coffee, brought hope and joy during the harsh years of the war.

The concert interweaves excerpts from these letters with popular musical pieces such as Bach’s Air, Gade’s Tango Jalousie, Cohen’s Hallelujah, and Alberte’s Lyse nætter.
