__________
Here at the inn, we are particularly fond of Mother’s Day.
It was Anna Jensen, the woman with whom Karl von Lügenhals was madly in love, who came up with the idea for Mother’s Day. Anna Jensen was one of seven siblings, and after her mother’s death, she conceived the idea for Mother’s Day. Anna came up with the idea for the famous ‘Mother’s Day’ platters with blue decorations – on which she arranged her mother’s favourite dishes. The work to promote the day gained momentum. Gradually, the day caught on in Varde, and with further efforts, it was also recognised in other towns and countries. As the years went by, however, she became opposed to the way Mother’s Day was developing. She didn’t like the idea of people sending printed cards and flowers – instead, people should spend time together and serve good food! Just as the day was intended.
