1. Save on electricity and water

Consider switching off lights that are not in use and only use water when necessary. The biggest culprits are the ones we overlook in everyday life. For example, consider whether it's necessary to leave electric radiators on in all rooms all night and whether the water can be switched off when you apply shampoo to your hair in the shower.

2. Sort your waste

In both Rinkøbing-Skjern and Varde municipality, there are plenty of opportunities to sort waste both when you stay overnight by the North Sea. But also in the cityscape. Follow the local instructions for sorting waste.

3. Take care of nature and respect wildlife

On land, sea and air, you'll find a wealth of wildlife. Beaches, fjords, heathland, fields, lakes and plantations create ideal conditions for endangered species. Use nature all you want, but remember to stay on marked trails and that it is primarily the domain of wildlife. Move respectfully among the animals, don't get too close and react if you see an animal in distress.

4. Eat locally and seasonally

Support local food producers, restaurants, cafés, farm shops and supermarkets. They contain many locally produced ingredients and create many jobs in the area. Also, feel free to utilise nature's amazing seasonal larder and use it as needed. The unique nature provides ample opportunities for fishing, foraging and foraging all year round.

5. Bike or walk

The space and nature in West Jutland can be a challenge. On the other hand, it can also become a bad habit to take the car to the grocery store, to work or to the next adventure. There are countless hiking and cycling routes that can both extend your journey and open up new and exciting experiences.

Cleaning up after yourself is essential for our nature and fellow human beings. If you are out in nature, please take your rubbish and that of others to the nearest waste sorting centre. This protects both nature and wildlife.

8. Support local experiences

Ringkøbing-Skjern and Varde municipality is Denmark's most visited holiday destination. In recent years, a wealth of experiences have supported and manifested the size and role of the tourism industry in the local community. Many of these experiences are based on culture, history, nature and traditions.
