Bente & Lars Thorsen Keramik

Visit the professional potters Bente and Lars Thorsen. They live and work 2 kilometres south of Nymindegab, where they have their lovely large workshop and showroom. They are both trained Ceramic Designers at the Design School in Kolding.

Over the years, they have exhibited at the three major juried exhibitions in Denmark and also exhibited at a large number of museums and galleries in Denmark and abroad.

In the workshop, they work with stoneware clay and some porcelain clay, making large unique jars, dishes and sculptural objects, but also beautiful timeless and functional utility items in small series.
They seek a simple expression with function, form and colour.

The stoneware is fired twice, the first time to approx. 1000 degrees and the second time to approx. 1400 degrees and due to the material and firing temperature, the items are very robust and dishwasher safe.
They make all glazes themselves and use only natural materials for the production.

Bente Thorsen is also well known for her ceramics with horse motifs. She is the only one in the world who makes it this way.

The workshop is open:
