Exhibition featuring Kristine Vaaben – Planetespor
It is with great pleasure that the West Jutland Art Pavilion / Arne Haugen Sørensen Museum presents the contemporary art exhibition PLANTESPOR by Kirstine Vaaben. An exhibition that takes its inspiration from the surrounding natural landscape and the changing seasons.

Exhibition from 3 October to 8 November 2026
Opening reception on Saturday 3 October, 2.00–4.00 pm
Under the title PLANTESPOR, Kirstine Vaaben has created an exhibition specifically for the West Jutland Art Pavilion, incorporating the surrounding park, the lake and the West Jutland landscape. The exhibition invites the public to reflect on the natural environment of West Jutland, where echoes of the landscape outside resonate within the exhibition inside the Art Pavilion.
PLANTESPOR engages with the area surrounding the West Jutland Art Pavilion, where a large part of the region around Videbæk consists of cultivated farmland, and shines a spotlight on the ‘invisible nature’ that we often take for granted.
The park surrounding Henning Larsen’s architecture is drawn into the building in various ways: plaster reliefs
featuring impressions of plants from the surroundings become part of the exhibition and form a long frieze. Dried plants, such as oak, ferns, heather and blackberries, are incorporated into the reliefs as direct impressions.
In her works, Vaaben is preoccupied with nature’s structures and patterns – particularly nature’s principles of growth, as expressed, for example, in plants, algae, cells and fungal spores. She observes nature’s forms and interprets them intuitively in large drawings in ink, watercolour and pastel, or sculpturally in plaster reliefs, bronze and ceramic sculptures. Connections and patterns emerge – at once understated and powerful – with colours that resonate and interact with and against the natural world outside.
Kirstine Vaaben (b. 1963) trained at the Charlottenborg School of Sculpture, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1997 and the School of Applied Arts and Textiles in Copenhagen in 1989.
The exhibition is the last of three contemporary art exhibitions in 2026 and is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, with production funding provided by the Grosserer L.F. Foght Foundation. The exhibition is curated by Tina Anette Madsen.
