In the Footsteps of the Wolf
Hiking in beautiful Stråsø – experience the wolf's habitat, hear stories about wolves, enjoy a sense of community, and let the stunning nature settle in your mind. Delicious food cooked over a fire and on a storm kitchen. Campfire food and relaxation in the fire shelter.
The tour includes: 7½ hours with an outdoor guide who will lead you through the day. Brunch cooked over the fire and afternoon coffee with cake, prepared on storm kitchens.
We will move through the beautiful nature of the Stråsø Nature National Park – across heaths, grasslands, meadows, and forests. It’s a unique and diverse landscape offering rich biodiversity.
There will be wolf stories and tales along the way. Guidance will be provided on outdoor skills, how to navigate nature, and cooking with open fire and storm kitchen. We’ll search for wolf tracks, remains, and droppings. We’ll use our senses to open up to nature and connect with the wolf and its environment. While we can almost guarantee we won’t see a wolf – we might. There’s a chance we’ll see deer, cranes, birds of prey, wild horses and many other animals – or their bone remains – along our path.
We’ll mostly stick to roads and trails to avoid disturbing wildlife unnecessarily.
Catering: We begin at 10:00 in the fire shelter with omelette, vegetables, cheese, bread, tea, and coffee – all cooked over a fire. Coffee and freshly baked cake in the forest. We help each other prepare the meals and tidy up afterwards.
Who can join: Anyone able to walk 12 km. (No dogs allowed.) There are no toilet facilities while in the forest.
Please bring: Rucksack. Good footwear. Clothing suitable for the weather – it can be rainy and windy in Stråsø. Warm outerwear for breaks. Water bottle. Possibly sunscreen. Seat pad. Some extra room in your backpack for shared gear is appreciated.
