Hodde Gamle Skole

Come by Hodde Gamle Skole and experience what it was like to go to school from 150 years ago. The school appears extremely authentic with original catheters and desks.

The small thatched school was established in 1831 as a result of Frederik the 6th's "Ordinance for the Almueskolevæsenet paa Landet i Danmark" from 1814. As they gradually tried to comply with the provisions of the new law, teaching largely took place during the winter months. The children could not be dispensed with as agricultural labourers, and the children of the poor could not be given service in the summer. This became the "West Jutland School Scheme". Hodde School was closed in 1955.

The school is located close to Hodde Church

Admission is free of charge. At the entrance to the museum you will find a sign with a telephone number. Call the number and get a code to get in. Calls are charged at normal telephone rates.
