Open Day at the museum
Come and enjoy a cosy and eventful day filled with nature, creativity and old traditions. Experience the atmosphere of days gone by – amidst the colours of autumn.

10.15 am: From chicken to soup – how it was done in the old days
Come and see as we explain and demonstrate how chicken soup used to be made from scratch in the old days. We’ll start by slaughtering a hen – in a calm and respectful manner – and afterwards we’ll see how the feathers were plucked and the hen prepared for the pot.
We’ll be explaining as we go along, so that both children and adults can learn how the whole animal was used and how food was prepared without anything going to waste
(An honest and educational experience, presented at a child-friendly level – but please be aware that we will be slaughtering a chicken as part of the demonstration)
Afterwards, there will of course be an opportunity to taste the homemade soup.
12.00 – 15.00: Woodworking workshop in the sawmill
Try your hand at the jigsaw and make your own wooden figure. Come and be a carpenter for a day – perhaps you’ll end up making a ship, a fish or something completely different.
1.00 pm – 3.00 pm: Afternoon get-together at Carpenter Larsen’s little house
Pop round to Carpenter Larsen’s cosy little house, where the volunteers will be serving up home-baked biscuits and, of course, coffee with Madam Blå. Pure old-fashioned cosiness.
2.00 pm – 4.00 pm: Felting workshop at the museum
Unleash your creativity and felt your very own ball! A fun and sensory activity for both children and adults – and, of course, you’ll get to take your little work of art home with you.
3.00 pm – Music in the museum café performed by Mærsk Duroen
