Open House with the Hunters

As well as plenty of interesting chat about hunting and nature, you’ll have the chance to watch a red deer being skinned, butchered and cooked on the barbecue, see how hunters train their dogs, play the hunting horn, go hunting for the invasive raccoon dog, have a go at clay pigeon shooting, try out a hunting trail and much more. After the activities, you’ll have the chance to buy barbecue sausages and have a good chat with a hunter.

The Trutterne play hunting horns – Listen to some of the traditional melodies played during hunts
Tracking with bloodhounds – See how specially trained dogs follow the scent trail of red deer

Skinning and butchering of red deer – followed by the chance to sample the meat
Try it yourself – Hunting trail – A short walk with questions about hunting and animals
Try it yourself – Clay pigeon shooting – See if you can hit a clay pigeon under the expert guidance of a shooting instructor
Raccoon dog control – See how the invasive raccoon dog population is managed

The barbecue will be lit, with the chance to buy sausages and bread, and have a chat with a hunter
