Opening reception at Kunst i Slusen 2026
Join us Sunday, August 2nd at 1 pm, as Kunst i Slusen opens its 2026 exhibition, Kysten som vilkår; The Coast as Condition. Mayor Lone Andersen gives the opening speech, there's cake and a drink for all guests, and you'll meet this year's four artists in the historic maneuvering passage—built in brick through 1931—which forms the very heart of the sluice structure.

Kunst i Slusen kicks off the 2026 season with an opening reception on Sunday, August 2nd at 1 pm, in the 120-metre maneuvering passage beneath the drainage sluice in Hvide Sande:
When: Sunday, August 2nd, 1 pm
Where: Kunst i Slusen, the maneuvering passage beneath the sluice, Hvide Sande
What: Opening reception with a speech by Mayor Lone Andersen, cake and a drink, plus the chance to meet this year's artists
Organizer: Kunst i Slusen
This year's exhibition is titled Kysten som vilkår (The Coast as Condition) and brings together four artists with close ties to the west coast and to the ART56° artist residency in Hvide Sande: Michael Ruby, Britta Bauer, Jens Thordal, and Christian Estrup. All four work with the traces left by the coast; in materials, in light, in what washes ashore and slowly transforms.
The opening marks the start of two weeks during which the exhibition can be visited daily through Friday, August 14th.
