Black Sun (self-drive)
Experience the spectacular Black Sun starling display as a nature guide shares insights into the birds’ fascinating lives. Participants drive their own cars from the meeting point.
The starlings’ dance is a matter of life and death. Their spectacular formations are shaped by the number of birds of prey hunting them. In the days leading up to the tour, the nature guides follow the starlings and do their best to locate their roost. However, there are no guarantees when it comes to nature—no one knows exactly how the evening will unfold. That is what makes it so exciting! Join an interesting and educational tour where the nature guide will tell you much more about the fascinating lives of starlings.
As we will be standing still while waiting for the starlings to arrive, and their display may continue until after sunset, you will need to dress warmly with a hat, woollen layers, and windproof and waterproof outerwear. It is also a good idea to bring a seat pad, coffee, and food for the wait. We may walk up to 1 km through damp terrain, so bring sturdy footwear, preferably waterproof.
IMPORTANT: From the meeting point, we will drive to the starlings in our own cars.
