In the summer of 2021, Varde Municipality has published a fine and practical guide to the 111 interesting sculptures that can be experienced around the municipality.
The guide guides you to the many sculptures both in the town of Varde itself and in several of the municipality's other towns, such as Ølgod, Tistrup, Vejers, Oksbøl - and even to a bunker at Blåvandshuk.
The associated app Vizgu also works as an excellent supplement with little stories along the way.
In the app, you can hear more about, for example, Otto Frello's famous gable paintings, Anker Hoffmann, Bjørn Nørgaard and Peters Brande's works in the Kunsthaven and in Varde Garden, La Luna, the Sea Horse and the Sphinx in Ølgod, as well as oxen and deer by Oksbøl and Vejers.
You can also find out more about the 12 thought-provoking reliefs in granite by Laila Westergaard, which were hung on the gable of Varde Library in spring 202.
Therefore, grab a guide at the tourist information offices, the libraries or at the town hall and experience how Varde Municipality is one of Denmark's foremost when it comes to exciting and varied art in the public space.
