Hanssinelund

A fine path system guides you through the charming poet’s grove in Ølgod Byskov. At the beginning of the 20th Century, the Nielsen couple established a privately park with memorials of great Danish poets, which is now called Hanssinelund.

Hanssinelund is a forest of approximately two hectares that was planted in the years 1909–1955 by Ølgod book dealer Hans Nielsen and his wife, Sine. Hence the name 'Hanssine'. In 1955, the grove was donated to Ølgod Municipality, and today it is known as the Poet’s Grove.

In the charming grove on Nørre Allé, north of Ølgod Station, a path system leads you around to 12 different memorial stones for famous poets.
Hans Christian Andersen, Henrik Pontoppidan, Steen Steensen Blicher, Jeppe Aakjær and many more have all been given their own memorials in the small recreational area where, in addition to a lovely hike, you can also remember the great Danish poets.
