Umbrella | West Coast Exhibitions is a non-profit space for contemporary art in a rural setting and a shelter in the wind- and rain-scarred landscape of the west coast of Denmark.
It is not a museum. But it is our ambition to bring museum-quality exhibitions to a place not traditionally associated with art. Each year, Danish and international artists or curators whose work is characterised by a distinct formal language and/or a strong artistic conception are invited to organise up to three exhibitions, each lasting about two months. We want to celebrate art and we celebrate it here, where it doesn't often show itself. Right at the edge of the field. With the birds. Under the majestic sky of the west coast and in the light of the exhibition space. In the middle of nowhere.
