Vanlife is so much more than a vehicle that has been lovingly converted. It is a way of life – a way to experience nature, explore your surroundings, and spend quality time together.

A big part of vanlife is simply being yourself in nature, making your own decisions, planning your own journey – or perhaps having no plan at all. And, of course, enjoying plenty of cosy moments and good company along the way.

When the many vans are parked among the dunes beside the roaring North Sea, it marks the beginning of three days filled with opportunities. Fire up the barbecue with friends at the large communal grills, enjoy shared dinners with delicious food in the main marquee on Friday and Saturday, and experience a varied programme of live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. You can also take part in invigorating ice baths and sauna sessions in the mobile sauna, available both for early risers and at sunset.

Exhibitors and food trucks will be on site, making inspiration for impressive vans, rooftop tents, vanlife gear and a welcoming atmosphere the centre of attention. Vanlife has become a popular way to escape everyday life, discover new places, spend time with others and, not least, meet new people.

Vejers Strand on Denmark's North Sea Coast

The event takes place at Vejers Strand Camping – the very essence of Camping on the Wild Side. Imagine camping among the dunes or driving your 4WD to the top of a dune to enjoy your morning coffee while listening to the wind through the marram grass and taking in the panoramic views of the North Sea. That is Camping on the Wild Side.

Vejers Strand Camping is located just 100 metres from the sea and is surrounded by 600 hectares of forest. Here you'll find rolling landscapes, open spaces and one of Denmark's finest beaches. When the weather allows, you can take a refreshing dip in the sea. You can even drive your van or 4WD onto the beach. If you're into watersports, head for the southern part of the beach. On days with strong westerly winds, the waves are ideal for surfing.

Although Vejers Strand Camping embraces the spirit of Camping on the Wild Side, comfort has certainly not been overlooked. The facilities are modern and of a high standard, offering everything you need, including hot showers, excellent kitchen facilities and inviting outdoor communal areas.
