At Abelines Gaard, Hvide Sande you get the chance to experience what life used to be like in the dune farms along Jutland’s west coast. The exhibition ‘The Faces of the Past’ lets you choose what you want to hear, when Abeline and the Ese girl tell the story about their lives. Moreover, old craftsmanship is brought back to life on the farm with living history demonstrations.
For the youngest members of the family there are lots of fun games to play, including old indoor and outdoor games. Walk on stilts, and play ’ten balls’ and carrom. Try living like kids did 100 years ago on our entertaining treasure hunt
Abelines Gaard also features a search&rescue, where there are several events throughout the year. Here, you get to experience a search&rescue operation, like it was done in the old days.
There’s also a cosy café where you, on certain days, can enjoy a large cake buffet – on normal days, we serve cold and hot drinks, and bread and cake. At the farm, there’s a small museum shop, where you can find souvenirs and buy ice cream.
Abelines Gaard is part of Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, where you can experience history where it happened. This museum consists of a series of authentic buildings that all tell the tale of the life lived there throughout the ages and how the landscape shaped them.
At Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, history isn’t locked up in glass cabinets. Here you get to experience LIVE HISTORY with all your senses – history reenactments, guided tours, and activities for kids. With a week or year round pass, you get a discount, by visiting several locations. Kids and teenagers under the age of 18 are free of charge when accompanying an adult. The week pass can be purchased at the different locations.
