The countryside and small towns around Varde are home to beautiful nature, good restaurants, fun playgrounds, and beautiful buildings. There is even a town and an area here that can be traced back to the 5th, 6th, and 7th centuries. As a result, many people have passed through here over the years, and there is still every reason to stop and take a walk around the town of Næsbjerg and the surrounding small towns.

When you drive southeast of Næsbjerg, one of the first things you see is the church. Næsbjerg Church is believed to date back to the 14th century and stands beautifully, welcoming the town's residents and visitors. If you have children or are young at heart, the playground in the town park is worth a visit. The well-maintained playground provides hours of fun and games for the little ones. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy a picnic in the town park's picnic shelter, which provides shelter and shade if the weather is not at its best. If you find nature appealing, the area around Karlsgårde Sø is well worth a visit. Here you will find winding and twisting paths, and the 6 km Hjertestien trail around the lake is good in all weathers. At the end of Kanalvej, you will find Stemmeværkpladsen, which offers exciting cultural history, a shelter, a campfire site, and toilet facilities. If the shelter is occupied, you can try the site at Bredmosevej, which is located in a small clearing in the forest. Here you can enjoy a wonderful nature experience, and the site has drinking water, toilet facilities, and a campfire site.

Denmark's second largest hydroelectric power station, Karlsgårde Værket, is located northeast of Varde, right by Karlsgårde Lake. Here you can see the permanent exhibition that tells the story of the power station, which was built in 1921 and expanded during World War II. Right next to the plant, you will find a cozy campsite where you can pitch your tent and enjoy nature. The plant itself is the gathering point and starting point for the annual event, Karlsgårde Dag. Local associations gather here and offer a taste of their activities, fun, and games. You can try kayaking, clay pigeon shooting, and much more.

The area around Næsbjerg has several charming towns, each with strong local communities – residents who are proud of their town and love life in a small town and the sense of community that comes with it. One of these is Øse, with around 104 inhabitants. Here you will find the beautiful Øse Church, which dates back to 1750. The town of Nordenskov boasts a slightly larger population of 669. Here you will find Nordenskov Lystanlæg, located by the old fire pond, which is home to the most beautiful water lilies. You can settle down on one of the benches in the park and enjoy your coffee, tea, and packed lunch. Roust and Rousthøje are both towns in southwestern Jutland, located 10 km and 12 km southwest of Varde, respectively. Rousthøje Church, built in 1961, adorns the town, and the community center is the venue for festive occasions. The village of Roust is known for its fishing and agriculture, but Roust Træ is also the pride of the town. The company ships wood and rafters all over the world.
