Surf Spots in Ringkøbing Fjord

A clear sandy bottom, the fact that you can bottom up to 800 metres out in the fjord, and the high safety level are the reasons why WestWind North is a paradise for wind and kite surfers on all experience levels.

Kloster, which is located in the north west part of Ringkøbing Fjord, is best suited for kitesurfing because of the low water levels and Kloster has indeed become one of the favorite spots for kitesurfers in this area.

Sorte Bakker is located in the eastern part of Ringkøbing towards Velling. This spot is equally suited for wind and kite surfing and works best with winds between WNW and ESE, VNV og ØSØ, while winds between NW through N to E result in offshore winds of changing quality.

Skaven Strand is located on the eastern side of Ringkøbing Fjord. This is a flat water spot, but from high winds to gale, it offers a great chance of jumping and performing tricks.

The spot at Bork Harbour is located at the head of the bay at Bork. The part of the bay closest to the shore is very shallow watered and best for kitesurfing, while the rest of this large area is great for windsurfing as well.

Westwind South is located by the southern entrance to Hvide Sande, with direct access to Ringkøbing Fjord. You can bottom up to 800 metres from the coast. There’s plenty of room for rigging your gear and free winds from all directions, except from NW, which makes Westwind South a fantastic flat water surf spot.

The surf spot by the South Beach in Hvide Sande is one of the best wave spots in Denmark. It has been divided into two parts by the new south pier - access to the area between the piers is only allowed for surfers and stand up paddlers, while the wind and kite surfers are allowed to surf the area south of the pier.
