Discover charming Skovlund and Ansager.

A little northeast of Varde lie the two towns of Skovlund and Ansager. The surrounding countryside, with its fields, farms, and rich wildlife, can quickly pass by, but there are good reasons to slow down and stop in both towns.

The cozy town of Skovlund has around 535 inhabitants and a surrounding countryside. Near the town center is the town park with a forest, lake, campfire site, and barbecue hut. The town park has a safe playground where children can play and run around. Adults can sit down and relax on the surrounding benches. This is an ideal place to eat your packed lunches and enjoy a cup of hot coffee or tea. The park also has petanque courts and croquet lawns with a clubhouse. The entire park, playground, and courts are adjacent to the sports facility, which is highly valued by the residents.

Another natural gem worth visiting is Gulddalslund Plantage, located 4 km north of Skovlund. This is a great place to bring a picnic and enjoy a cup of hot coffee by ‘Børges Sø’. Here you will also find a large and inviting fire pit with room for up to 16 people.

Hop on your bike and take a trip to the nearby town of Ansager. There is a path all the way there.

Ansager is a large village in southwestern Jutland with just over 1,300 inhabitants. The town is known as a stronghold for musical innovation and expression. It offers an exciting and welcoming cultural and urban environment. What's more, it is located in a unique and scenic natural area.

The town's identity and distinctive character promote good living and boost visitor numbers, settlement, and business life. ‘Vildt med Vilje’ (Wild by Design) is alive and well in and around Ansager Søpark and along Ansager Å. Here you can walk around the three lakes, which were formerly used for fish farming but now contain a rich underwater wildlife.

In large parts of the area, flowers and grass are allowed to grow freely.

In the center of town, you will find Ansager Church, which dates back to the 13th century. The church was built in the Romanesque style, and in 1775, the church tower with its spire was added.

There is a special natural atmosphere around Ansager and the wildlife that lives here. You will have the opportunity to explore and experience nature in a very special way. The Stemmeværkpladsen in Ansager is particularly worth a visit. The square is located close to the Cost to Coast trail, where you can spend the night, cook your freshly caught fish over a campfire, and enjoy a true outdoor experience.

Just outside the city lies Ansager Plantage. Here you will find tree tops, fresh air, and natural tranquility. Whether you want to speed along the MTB trails, which challenge both experienced riders (red trail) and beginners (blue trail), or slow down on the many hiking trails, the plantation has room for everything. With a packed lunch in your bag, hot coffee in your thermos, and happy children playing, you can settle down at the playground in the middle of the plantation.

If you've had your fill of nature but need to fill your stomach, Vingården i Ansager is a lovely little place to visit. There is often live music on the small stage, and you can enjoy wine, food, or a good cup of coffee. The vineyard is located next to Mariehaven, a wonderful venue that hosts many large and small concerts throughout the year. This is also where the program Sommersang on DK4 is held and recorded. You can find the list of names of those who are coming to play on their website. In Mariehaven, you will find the cozy eatery Restaurant Galleriet. Here you can enjoy lunch, afternoon coffee, and dinner—often with lovely music from Mariehaven in the background.

Perhaps you would like to end the evening at a leisurely pace with something sweet. Then you can take a walk around Kvie Sø, which has two walking routes. One goes around the lake and the other also goes around the adjacent marsh. After your walk, you can grab a warm and delicious pancake from Pandekagehuset. Dutch pancakes and Belgian beer are the specialties here.

Just before you hit the pillow at Solvang Apartments, remember to wave and say good night to the more than 110 dairy cows that also live on the modern farm. Here you can get up close to the farm and the animals and see how a modern farm works. You can eat your own food and play table tennis, table football, and other games in the old barn.
