The very popular Hvide Sande series, whose first season proved to be one of the most popular, is now back with season 2.

In the first season of the TV 2 series Hvide Sande, a young German surfer is found brutally murdered in the Danish tourist town of Hvide Sande. When the murder remains unsolved a year later, undercover specialist Helene and homicide detective Thomas are sent to the town. They must infiltrate the local community by posing as a married couple and find the killer.

During their investigation, Helene and Thomas dig deeper into the town's secrets and encounter a number of local characters, including surfer girl Michelle, who is hiding something herself. They also uncover old connections and hidden relationships while trying to maintain their cover and credibility.

The season consists of eight episodes, with each episode bringing them closer to the truth about the murder.

The first season of the Hvide Sande series had over 1 million viewers at the premiere and over 800,000 viewers per episode on average (source: https://omtv2.tv2.dk/nyheder/2021/05/hvide-sande-premieren-rundede-en-million-seere/).

In particular, the iconic lighthouse at Lyngvig Fyr had a central role in the series as a crime scene. This particular league of series can help put location-specific visitor destinations on the map and the traffic was also noticeable during the first season's airtime and beyond.

What do we know about Hvide Sande 2?

The second season of the TV 2 series Hvide Sande will premiere on 23 March 2025 on TV 2 Play and 30 March on TV 2. This time we follow two new protagonists. The experienced homicide investigator Maj Lorentzen (Anne Louise Hassing) and the young local police officer Bjørn (Allan Hyde).

After suffering a stress-related stroke, Maj takes refuge in Hvide Sande to find peace and reconnect with her adult daughter and granddaughter. But when a prominent citizen of Hvide Sande is murdered and the case becomes deadlocked, Bjørn persuades her to step in and help solve the case. The season consists of six episodes filmed in Hvide Sande and other locations in Destination Vesterhavet.

In this season, we know that Bork Vikingehavn plays a prominent role in the plot, among other things. Bork Vikingehavn is run by Ringkøbing Fjord Museums and had around 90,000 visitors in 2023. Here you can be a ‘Viking for a day’, bake flatbread and shoot a bow and arrow in the old charming Viking village. We also know that the surrounding beaches with bunkers around Houvig are in play.
